OVERVIEW

Train East Side residents and building owners in commercial real estate development.

EMPOWERING EAST SIDE RESIDENTS

The Community-Based Real Estate Development Training program provides East Side building owners and community members with the know-how to plan for and implement a redevelopment or infill project, fostering entrepreneurial spirit and creativity. This ensures that land and buildings are redeveloped for productive use, driven by the community, and don’t fall further into the hands of absentee landlords and land speculators or sit unused.

The goal is to build a pipeline of citizen developers interested in taking an active role in revitalizing their commercial corridors. The program was developed in partnership with the University at Buffalo’s Real Estate Development department. In addition to training, funding is also dedicated to building owners for capital improvements to their properties upon completion of the program.
